The BB that came out is a square tapered model with cups and lock ring. Probably cost about $6 and it has no markings. Putting the cup back into the shell and I run into the same tightness.

The Ultegra is the standard English thread - 68 x 109. I get the feeling I could crank it past this hangup but want to make sure I don't screw the cup in the process.
