Regarding the motorcyles in the vicinity of Rock Store: They are a PiTA, roaring by at high speed. There are on average 2 motorcycle wipe-outs per week in that area. The scary thing is that they go so fast that they can be upon you before you ever hear them. Stay to the side of the road in that area, and don't stop in turns where they can slide into you.
Yup. Deer always kicks my arse.

That ride takes in 3 of the steepest climbs in the area. Las Flores, Deer, and Decker. The two others were Potrero and Tuna (but that is 1-way downhill).

Spot on about climbing the Rock Store grade too. It's best to do it in the AM and on Saturday ... there are more motorcycles on Sunday.

Cheers!
