165mm rear spacing with a double stepped hub... we build a threaded disc brake mount that can be fitted on the threaded non drive side where a drum brake would have been used on a traditional tandem and this also allows for two freewheel blocks to be run in the rear. Thought here is that for epic touring (this is what this bicycle is made for) one can run an alpine block for mountainous sections and have a road block on the flip side as a backup and a drive for sections where things are flat and where smaller steps make for a much more enjoyable ride.
A 48 spoke dishless wheel will handle more weight than you can carry comfortably.
If this frame was spec'd for 135 spacing it would be built with a small offset although most common option is to build it to a tandem specification and use a 145mm rear hub.
