Oh, aye - I've ridden worse myself - it *did* suprise me being only ridden 4K clicks, though.

It doesn't seem to matter anywhere near as much when it's a chainring - if a cassette sprocket was anywhere near as worn, it'd be practically unusable IME.

That's extortionate! I've just gotten a cheap'n'cheerful (Cyclus-branded) one from a shop on Amazon for just under £5 - it's only a thin piece of shaped metal, after all.
