I have been commuting about 50% of the time since October 2012. This is my first summer in the panhandle, where I need some sun protection for my noodle. So, here is the problem:
I wear a size 8.5, which pretty much limits me. Anyone have a recommendation on a hot weather commuting hat that would fit my massive head?

You're talking about something to go on your head in addition to your helmet, right? Stop into a running store; they've got lots of lightweight, mesh fabric baseball style hats with long brims, and many of which are simple stretch to fit, so no buckles to interfere with, or cause discomfort under, a helmet.
Failing that, get Da Brim. They're hideous, but you can score neck protection too...maybe even some aerodynamic lift if you ride fast enough!
