If it's just slightly too big, as in tightens to fit but not enough to hold, you can fix the problem easily enough with a paper shim. Use regular 20# copier paper cut into a strip and use trial and error to see if one or two turns are needed (the minimum that does the job is best). Once you dial that in, remove, soak the paper in oil, and mount the FD over it. Make sure it's tight and cannot twist of move. Then you can use an Exacto knife to carefully trim the ship so it doesn't show. The oil will keep water out and the shim will last as long as your bike (maybe longer).
