Runner's pants for cycling

Anyone else use runner's pants for cycling? I found a pair that is supposed to be windproof to 35 mph, water resistant but still breathable and suitable for temps below 40F. They are fitted but not tight with 11" zippers at the ankles. I'm thinking they might be useful for winter training and for early and late season organized centuries. I've looked at some of the winter cycling tights but my 50 year old Clydesdale form in tights might be just a bit too much for the locals and frankly I'd like just a bit of leg room.

Any reason not to use runner's pants for cycling?
