My modern bike has a carbon fork and a super light steel frame with sram red and dura-ace and a sub 1400 g wheelset and it is 17lbs.. that people achieve 18 on a lugged steel frame and fork is amazing.

Of course the fact that I ride a 62cm frame doesn't help.
Been said a few times, but as nice as 531 is there were lighter vintage and modern tubesets in standard diameter. 753, some Vitus, some Ishiwata, Columbus KL and similar, and modern TruTemper OX-Plat.

Besides, a great 531 frame is still a great frame. I still want another 531 Woodrup, though I would take a 753 one as a substitute.
