That's funny.
Right now 99% of my cycling is commuting but I am in the process of researching a road bike so I can ride for real. I think it would be a nice addition to my main sport - running. As a commuter I tend to run into the hipsters who want to catch me and then they have dead legs and fall back. I used to find that annoying but I got over it. I tend to go up and down with my cycling fitness. At time I am really strong and have caught up to group rides on my mtb and rode with them for a while. In addition there is a bike train that people pick up for commuting and when I am strong I can stay at the front of the pack. Other times I'm out of shape and can't catch my breath much less a group ride. So, whatevs, I go with the flow.
Though, when it comes to the way I behave when training for a marathon - I'm REALLY social. The more difficult the workout the better I am at it if someone will do it with me. So, I anticipate I'll enjoy having people latch onto me. However, I don't think I would ever draft someone without first striking up conversation. And how likely is that going to happen.
I'm like this with eventing. I easily run a 4:00 marathon. I tend to run along picking up people in conversation for a mile or two. I'm not an idiot - I don't even try if someone is actively trying to
PR or something. I just manage to find people like me in the event and we hang out. I would imagine I would be like that with cycling, if people like me exist in cycling.
