Having a reputation as a year-round cyclist actually enhances my position at work. With many co-workers, we exchange pleasantries, not about the weather, but “How was the ride today?”. On really bad days, a motivation to ride is to confront that perennial question, “You didn't ride your bike today, did you?”

At some work-related swanky social affairs, even in black-tie, I usually get the good-natured question, “Did you ride your bike here?”
