I'm also 5'6'', wth "normal" proportions and I went for a 17.5" 7.4FX. To me the 15.5 frame felt as if I was too "scrunched up." The LBS owner, same height as me, also rides a 17.5", and like he said, something like a 16.5" frame would likely be perfect!
