I was pretty enthusiastic about 4-seasons and have gone through plenty of them over the last couple years. I'm to the point now where I'm convinced there have to be better options. They wear too quickly to be valid for a winter training/commuting tire and the puncture protection seems to be well below their claims.

The Schwalbe Ultremo DD looks to be a tire along the same philosophy and many of my teammates and race buddies have said it's a great tire. What interests me most is their claim that it is ideal for glass shards which is what almost all my flats are from on the 4-Season. I'm not sure if it's really all that true of a claim though.

I'm actually leaning towards using Gator Hardshells for all my training/commuting just for the durability and relatively low cost. I know they won't grip well and they'll roll like tanks but that's okay for training.
