Chains....discussion is nearly always like a religious argument and as many wars have been started as a result.
I have seen a ton of Shimano and SRAM chains break. Almost always from incorrect installation.
KMC is the OEM for many other chains on the market including most/many of Shimano's chains.
KMC has changed the links to be interlocking instead of just simply slip together like before.
If you are having problems then you most likely didn't have the plates seated all the way before you tried to set them with pressure.
If you are having problems.....it's user error. Sorry.
