Thanks so much for the info--that definitely helps! My only question is then, if the cog won't fit on a campagnolo free hub or on a shimano free hub ...what does it fit on?

To my knowledge it's impossible for sprockets to fit both Shimano and Campagnolo, so you'll need the right cassette. If you have Shimano derailleurs you'll need a special hybrid cassette made for a Campagnolo hub, but spaced for Shimano Index. They exist, and you can search one out, but it may be pricey.
Another alternative if you have Shimano derailleurs is to contact the hub maker and see if they offer a Shimano type freehub body that fits the same hub.
