Believe it or not it's not very hard to spend over 10k on a road bike, it only takes a little work to get to 15K. For example

Ottrott frame set: 7,195
Zipp 404 tubulars 2,400
Record group 1,800
Moots post 380
Moots stem 350

theres a little over 12K with no tires, saddle, or bars so call $12,600 ridable. Thats not even for the high end stuff..

I could build a MeiVici with EPS light weights etc. and be near 20K
