I had the same problem and adapted a Minoura handle bar spacegrip on the fork below my bag. Like Northwest rider, I seldom ride after night anymore, but there are places in the world where having a headlight is required whether you use them or not. Besides, I've been unintentionally caught arriving at my destination after dark.
