Thanks guys!
There may be decent deals on Craigslist but you won't be the one to find it. No offense meant but I'm serious. Even I can't always be in the right place and time to scarf up the one in a million Craigslist "deal". When someone sells something on Craig's its because they've _______ it up and want to saddle someone else with their problems. OR they are asking way too much money. No exeptions. If the bike is decent, well maintained and hasn't been in a crash, you can pretty much guarantee that the seller is asking what that bike cost new or sometimes much more. $300 can buy plenty of bike in an LBS where you have the protection of a warranty. A discerning cyclist may need to do better but, and again, no offense, I don't think that is the case here. You could take an earlier posters advice and add 100 dollars but I don't think that would help. Maybe if you added 200 dollars. But, that said, if you did a little looking I bet you could find a ~500 commuter and that would be something like a ... Specialized Sirrus... a VERY nice bike... for $300 if it was last years model or dealer overstock or something like that.
