Riding with wife or a slower rider

My wife has started riding with me the last couple months and I love it! Except for one small thing... I am only able to ride a few times a week. When I ride with her, I try and adapt to her speed so I can pull her up hills and enjoy the ride. At the end of the ride, my average power, heart rate and speed are significantly lower. The lower speed does not bother me, but I would like to still get a good work out in heart rate and power. I hold sodium like no other and need to sweat when I ride.

To try and get my heart rate up, I have tried taking 5 hour energy before my ride and it has barely helped. I have multiple layered clothes to increase my body temperature and heart rate but that too has had little effect. Any other suggestions? I like riding with her and I feel safer with her riding knowing I am there... I appreciate the input.
