Pop singer's stolen 1.6-million yen bicycle found
Kiyoshiro Imawano

Famous pop singer Kiyoshiro Imawano's expensive bicycle, which was stolen in Tokyo on Sunday, has been found and returned to him, police said Thursday.

The bicycle, worth about 1.6 million yen, was found abandoned on a street in Shinjuku-ku on Wednesday evening, three days after it was stolen.

Imawano, 54, parked his bicycle in front of a friend's home in Shinjuku-ku and locked it with a chain at around 7 p.m. on Sunday. He reportedly noticed the bicycle was missing about an hour later. The chain was found severed there, local police said.

A passer-by spotted the bicycle abandoned on a street in the Shinjuku Itchome district, about 1.2 kilometers away from where it was stolen, and alerted police.

Police subsequently returned it to Imawano. The bicycle was not damaged. The owner's name, "KIYOSHIRO," was painted in roman letters on the frame of the specially ordered, orange bicycle that weighs about 6.8 kilograms.

Police are still searching for the thief who stole the bike. (Mainichi)
