From Lee Vining to the park entrance is only 12.1 miles, but you climb from about 6890 feet to 9945 feet, (~3050 feet gain). Up to about Mile 4 is a gentle 3-4% grade, a nice warm-up for the next section where it kicks up to 7-9% for the next five miles before easing up at less than 5% to the park entrance, (even a short section of a slight downhill at the start of this last part). The Tuolumne Meadows Visitor Center is another 8 miles into the park, (and well worth seeing). From the park entrance to the visitor center is a drop of about 1,500 feet elevation into the park, which you will have to climb on your way back out.

This ride is on my bucket list. I've been wanting to do it every Autumn for the past several years, but snow always seems to come the weekend before I chose to ride. Maybe I should shoot for the Spring instead?

From ridewithgps.com website. I use this site for route planning, and the routes can be uploaded to our Garmins. It is one site worth paying to use.
