I have a similar setup to Jim's except my front light is a Busch & Muller Lumotec IQ Cyo Sensor and the my handlebar bag is a Ortlieb Ultimate 5 medium but the same concept. My set-up has worked well including on a 3,000 km tour.

Sorry no photo with the light and bag in the shot but this is the light set-up.
