i'm going to resurrect this thread with one question, should the indicator rod screw in until it cannot anymore? i sense that sometimes it is possible to keep turning it, albeit with some force. maybe that is the unit inside the hub turning with it?

should it just be finger tight? this is in ref. to a srf-3, one of the newer three speeds.
