Scooper's got the scoop on the Schwinn line up for late 70 - early 80. Some time after 1980 the Traveler got an ungrade in terms of tube set to True Temper Cro-Mo from 1020 steel. Thus reduced the weight from 32lbs to some number below that. I have an 80 model that came with Shimano 400 rear derailleur in the same color blue as the pic in Scoopers first post. I've upgraded mine to the point that the only 'schwinn' parts left are the frame, fork, and seat. My 80 traveler is a solid riding bike, great for getting myself into shape as I am pushing over 30lbs of bike under me. Currently debating on riding it, or my newer Centurian frame on a metric century weekend after this.
