7th place..... Cat 3s
Pretty simple I sat in attacked a bit and just followed wheels since nothing was going away in the beginning and the pace was so eradic. Every once in a while when I though a couple of riders were strong I would just bridged up to them and did that 2 potential breakaways since I was trapped and couldn't respond immediately. Then about 21 miles out I bridged up to a group of 4 and we went away then 2 joined us and I was just taking my pulls and nothing more waiting for the final 5k to attack since no one else was attacking and I had nothing to counter. Then I flatted on the front about 12k out but had a little bit of slime in the tube So it sealed my tire but I was running on 30 PSI so it was basically gone. I tried something anyways but I was afraid of standing because I didn't want to ruin my wheels. Then 1k out I attacked sitting down and strung it out but it failed and then everyone started their sprint and I was a little sketched out so I just rode it in.... The most annoying part is, if I didn't have the flat I could've won because I was stronger than the other guys in the break.
I also struggled with nutrition as my previous longest race was just 48miles, and this was 72miles. I was also so worried about someone attacking while I ate that I only took down a shot and half a bottle of water for 72miles so I was bonking at the end. I'm hoping for a super solid result at wenatchee in the 1/2/3 since I am comparable to most of my teammates that have been placing high in the 1/2s.
OH YEAH, I AM FINALLY GETTING A POWER METER!!!!! So I am not training blind!!!!
