Two years ago I helped the college aged daughter of ours learn to be more comfortable riding the open roads. She took to cycling like a duck to water and started racing, steadily moving up the ranks to her current Cat 2 level. She even put off starting her masters degree so she could live the racing lifestyle for a year.
This weekend she went up to Fayetteville for the Joe Martin Stage Race. Her results were:
TT - 2nd in Cat2, 20th overall, 00:01:08 behind the winning time (4 seconds behind Pro Amber Gaffney)
Friday RR - 3rd in Cat2, 30th overall, 00:06:09 behind the winner (but first in the second group across the line)
Saturday RR - 3rd in Cat2, 18th overall, same time!
Sunday Crit - DNS. Raining and wasn't worth the risk to her.
Overall she had a great time but reported the pro women were "mean". Not sure if she meant out on the road or in general.
