Hey Buddy,
I just got a new U lock and their suggested places just did nto work for me. I attached mine to the frame below the seat post and have it angled slightly so it sits as close as possibel to the frame. It is how my LBS recomended doing it.
They also said you can mount it on the handle bars which I thought looked too dumb so i stayed away from t hat option.
