Hello again, wise C&V'ers. I have here most of a Benotto that I picked up yesterday for $125. As you can see in the pictures it has been repainted. The bottom bracket and steerer tube seem to reveal that traditional greyish/silver color Benotto used a lot. I'm hoping to find a way to just remove the new paint and see if there are any decals on there (any advice on that?)
Included with the frame were original bars and crank, both pantographed. The front wheel is on a Miche hub and has a Benotto decal on the rim. Seems original. Rear wheel is a Shimano 600 hub with Ambrosio rim that was anodized gold.
That is really all I have to go by right now. Later today I'll measure the ID of the seat tube and take a better look/feel on the steerer tube for a marking or rifling. I also have not yet checked if it is Italian threading on the BB yet.
Do any of you know what I'm working with here? Dropouts are forged and have a derailleur hanger. I think they were stamped Benotto.
Thanks in advance.
