I have made adjustments, I got a different stem and have fiddled with saddle position and height. I have also tried a different set of bars but unfortunately that didn't work at all. The most comfortable I can make the bike involves rotating the bars so that the tops are angling down. The problem with that is I feel like my hands are pressing into the shifters and it becomes uncomfortable. If I adjust everything so that the drop are comfortable the hoods are either pointed straight down or have to be brought up and hit an awkward angle to the bar for me.

My theory is that the new styles of STI shifters are larger with more area to grab and that would make the different hand positions more usable. Or maybe i'm grasping as straws, I dunno.

edit: I try to do rides of 40-60 miles here, it starts getting uncomfortable at around 10 or so.
