This has been covered before, but maybe hard to find in a search. Basically N. American riders prefer to use drop bars while European riders seem to not prefer them, on their touring rigs. Simply what we're accustomed to using. Generally fitment is less aggressive on the tourers than what a roadie's set up is. Butterfly (trekking) handle bars are becoming more popular in recent years.
