This story is silly. The Jaguar XK-E is not a current model (XK8, maybe?), so finding one new would be quite a feat. On top of that, I often answer "nice car" with "I know" because...well...I know I have a nice car. I wouldn't have bought it if it was a crappy car. I also follow up with a "thanks," but I don't think there's anything wrong with being aware that one has a nice car.
