Depends on the seatpost really. Measuring from bottom of seatpost to the max hight mark, that should give you a pretty good indication. Be aware that some seatposts has a greater base density, in which case cutting your seatpost may drastically reduce its strength...

Say your seat post requires 80mm in the frame as it stands, it would probably require about the same or possibly slightly less after you cut it, presuming for the sake of argument the density of your seatpost is consistent throughout.
