Last weekend I passed group of kitted out roadies going up a 500m climb. I was riding my boat anchor commuter with a a load of stuff on the back. The dude I was riding with was riding clipless, but I was wearing my army boots with flat pedals. They looked at my bike and said hello, I said hello back. We plodded on up to the top of the hill where they were interested in my bike (saved from the dump of course).
That thing actually climbs like a mountain goat. The road triple certainly helped but I didn't expect it to be that nice on a hill.
Asked for directions back to Seoul and off we went. An enjoyable meeting. They probably thought I was mad riding that particular bike - I have more but I wanted to make it hard on myself. But I still paced them all the way up the hill so its not the bike or the clothes, but the rider (in reference to both performance and attitude).
Later on that same ride as we were making our way back along the mup section some kitted out women on a carbon roadie came screaming - literally down the crowded mup 'ge out of the **** way'. Riding at 20mph. Saw both ends of the spectrum that day. Hope she crashed into something solid and adjusted her attitude...
