Hi,

Your right and I was looking at it wrong. It doesn't
matter which side you approach it from the insertion
problem of a spring remains the same, the drive is
opening and jamming the spring if its from the back,
so it needs to pulled / spun from the front, not easy.

Or as you say held taught in the direction that
shrinks the thread diameter when it is going in.
