Yeah, but the difference is that you're already dealing with them in some way, and in a position where they might reasonably expect you to advise them on lock preference. (Presumably, at least -- I don't know the circumstances.) That's entirely different from emailing some random crime victim to offer them unsolicited advice about how they're an idiot.
