If possible, those who are going for the win have someone at the checkpoints bottles already filled and it is a very quick handoff and they keep going usually. If not they seem to try and have filled bottles in their clearly marked drop bag so they can grab it and go. A lot of 24 hour racers never really come off the bike other than for bathroom breaks, installing lights and a bike change if needed.
