I like what SpookyReverb and Retro Grouch have stated here in particular. Afterall, if you attempt to do it yourself, the way that Cyclist2000 has suggested, you won't be losing that much, if your new bicycle paint job doesn't succeed.
I mean...What the heck? Even if you fail miserably, you can always have it PC painted by professionals at the end of the day, anyways!

* But don't go buying no compressor and spraygun to do it though! Those are things that should either be found, borrowed, or cheaply rented, unless you can find many other uses for 'em...
