Anyone have answers to either or both:
1. How does one know what tightness we're supposed to do the crank / BB lugs? Just as tight as I can? Can I over tighten?
2. anyone have a good link to step by step on vintage BB replacement instructions? I'm looking without much success.

You want them tight, but I just use an 8" ratchet and one hand it, so I don't strip anything with a longer ratchet or two arms. Just check them after a couple of weeks of riding.
