Things seem to remain on schedule for a fall 2013 opening of the Stoneridge Drive extension to El Charro and Jack London. It all hinges on completion of a bridge over Arroyo Mocho. Back in January/February, the talk was of a "September timeframe," which is only fall if it is late September, but by March, reference was being made to an October opening. I haven't heard any updates since then, but the project certainly shouldn't have been delayed further by a rainy spring!

I'm not going to hold my breath for October, but I'm counting on Thanksgiving. I like a good ride Thanksgiving morning so I can feel better about stuffing myself at dinner. Last Thanksgiving, I went up and down the south side of Morgan Territory (getting to see some wild turkeys at the top of Morgan Territory before going home to eat some turkey), then down Collier Canyon. When I hit Jack London and Isabel, I was worn out enough that I really wished I could turn right, pass by the outlet mall in one of those brief moments when it is closed and traffic on Jack London by the mall would be light, and get a shorter route back home than taking Stanley. But I knew I had to wait until fall 2013. I'm already planning to do that ride again this Thanksgiving, but I want my shortcut.
