With many people posting lists of their stable of bikes the OP may be trying to match a titanium Lightspeed. Of course it is a free country and the OP can put it on a lawn mower if he wants. I run a Tubus that is pretty much a chrome-moly version of the Airy. It does just fine on gravel and dirt road and single track with 620-42 tires. One thing to consider is getting a couple of extra bottom hooks to really help stabilize the load. They are only $6 or $7 each and they make a big difference.
