Hmm... Can anyone here report of a properly installed, properly lubricated chain failing in a non-tandem road situation in the last 10 years? (personal experience, and not a starting ramp failure like Sanchez in the Olympic TT) I'm genuinely curious about this.
searched up this thread because this happened to me and I didn't have a multitool or a spare link with me, I mean, really, what are the odds?? personally I believe it was a manufacturing defect that caused my failure 'cuz I keep mine fairly well lubed, but lesson learned, ordered a new chain and a 6pk of links, a lezyne tool as of a few minutes ago and a new wedge pack to carry my extra stuff.
