Here's a
test ride I did. The climb at mile 6 is 200 feet at a 10% grade. I pushed hard up this hill, and the VAM shows a little over 700. That's way high for me.
Thanks for the tip, I do use ridewithgps. I checked today's ride, and my VAM was 521 on average. On one segment I have 675. Here's the ride:
