I work in that field CAY and there is a lot more to the AF 447 accident than can be covered in an over simplified paragraph. FWIW, they had bad basic flight data so failed automation played no roll in the accident.
Uh huh - and they high-altitude stalled b/c they simply failed to fly the aircraft by pitch and power instead of screwing around with automation.
85% + 5 degrees nose up would have saved that flight...
