Actually i am seriously considering just giving up making it a hell of alot easier and just splurging on a brand new pair (only because i don't want to spend my summer waiting since providence is such a small town who knows if anything will even come up for sale on craigslist. plus it will be cheaper than buying a car (which i am saving for) but will still be useful- for the most part, i mean i do live in New England the weather here is unpredictable even in the summer.
the problem is just deciding on the right bike, road/hybrid/city. i wanna be able to travel the 5 (total) so miles to school and back, but also the 12 miles (each way) to the beach and other places.
i read TREK's FX 7.2 are a good option for beginners. i really don't want to spend any more than 500$ and even than it sounds like alot! (though i am a student so anything which costs half my rent sounds alot :-P

I hate it when that happens. Sometimes people get the important details and sometimes they don't. It can be impossible to tell whether the misinformation was intentional as an upsell for someone who didn't know or didn't care to know the difference. Sorry your Trek saga ended this way!
