The correct BB spindle length is determined by the design of the crankset. You need to identify the crank first.
It's probably an English threaded BB shell on the frame, you can check this by measuring the width of the shell. If it's 68mm across, it's a pretty safe bet that it's English threaded. If it measures 70mm, it will be Italian.
