I actually had a 1" 2005 Easton EC90 carbon fork. It's sitting in my car with cracked dropouts after a garage/bike rack accident .... Anyway, install of the fork crown race and spacers, and stem was a major pain. The steer tube was so tight that we had to rig all kinds of ways to get everything on without scratching the components (especially the Pewter King spacers). Perhaps it was a manufacturing anomaly, and once it worked it was fine, but if you had to remove everything for whatever reason, the mallet was a very useful tool.
What were your thoughts on how the squared crowns matched up to the headset?
