Quick hypothetical for you guys. Let's say a racer weighs 210 lbs, and has an FTP around 210W. His main goals are track racing, crit racing, and hanging on the fast group rides, in that order. Been off the bike for about 6 months until a month ago, back to training again now. Goal weight probably around 180-190.
Should he:
a) keep training for the track and worry about the weight in the offseason
b) keep training for the track while dropping about a lb a week
c) drop 2 lbs a week while training as much as is possible on that diet
d) something else
Depends on when the racer wants to race.
