OP, gasoline is an extremely dangerous stuff to store in the house or work with. Let me tell you a sad story! My brother, who lives overseas, lost all his property some years ago due to storage of, and carelessness in handling gasoline by his housekeeper. He lived in one of these island/resort countries with occasional shortages of commodities. The military there, where he had many friends (I think he was a spy, but he never answered my direct questions about that, just that he was a businessman) always had ample supply of all shortage items, and one of his friends delivered about fifteen gallons of gasoline in metal jerrycans to his housekeeper, who proceeded to store it (extremely valuable item) in the laundry room (my brother was out of the country). One day, there was a temporary power outage, and that housekeeper lit a candle, went carelessly by the laundry room, and hell broke loose. The laundry room blew (gasoline fumes had apparently accumulated all over the room and nearby hallway), burnt down his house and both houses on either side of his. More importantly, his local housekeeper was burnt severely. He was in the hospital for a very long time. All my brother had was the cloth on his back when he came back to deal with that disaster.

Please, stay away from gasoline storage or usage in cleaning bike/mundane stuff. Extremely dangerous stuff!
