I'm finally planning to update the wheelset on my 2011 Trek 1.5 Road Bike. I am still using the rear Bontrager SSR wheel from my old Trek 1200d and a Bontrager Select front wheel (2009), which replaced a bent SSR rim after a crash.

I find that my current wheelset is far too heavy for my taste, weighing in over 2kg (sans tubes, tires and skewers). I'm considering upgrading to a pair of Mavic Cosmic Carbone SL (1740g).

I'm looking for good multi-purpose wheelset with strong rims (the roads in my city aren't kind to road bikes), which is why I chose the aluminium rimmed Cosmic Carbone SL. Would this be a good upgrade, or should I go for something different?
