I use the same pedals. I wore a pair of Shimano MT-31 shoes on my last tour. They were passable for walking around, but I found that the soles weren't quite stiff enough for pedaling. Next time I'll wear my Specialized BG Comp shoes. You couldn't pay me to use platforms or toe clips...
