Pro mechanics do it because it makes it easier to find the valve. You do this because that’s the way pro mechanics do it. This will save you precious seconds while your fat ass sits on the roadside fumbling with your CO2 after a flat.
The practical reason to line up the label with the valve stem is so that when you get a flat it is easier to "index" the hole in the tube to the tire and make sure whatever caused the puncture has been removed. Nothing sucks worse than putting in a afresh tube only to have it puncture again just down the road because we failed to remove the offending object.
